The association seeks to preserve the high
quality of the Choconut Creek, and to reduce flooding and erosion.
News:
We got another Pa Growing Greener Grant.
On September 18, 2003,
Governor Edward G. Rendell announced nearly $337.4 million in
Year 5 Growing Greener Grants. Choconut Creek Watershed Association received a
grant for $134,219 to complete work on a natural stream
restoration for the
creek north of the Choconut School. A picture before the start of
restoration of gravel in the creek causing erosion is shown to the right. Construction has been
completed on the upstream section (see picture below), and with the new grant,
the project
can be completed during the fall of 2003 and spring of 2004. The creek was
reshaped to eliminate the elbow shown above, and stone structures installed to
slow the flow and route the water into center of the creek.
The grant request was based on a watershed assessment. See why the grant was justified.
