CHOCONUT TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS – March 1, 2010

 

            The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Supervisors was held at the township meeting room, beginning at 7:30 p.m..  Sup. Stewart called the meeting to order and led in the pledge of allegiance to the American flag.  The roll was called and supervisors Mattes and Stewart were present in the room; supervisor Dovin was present on a speaker phone line.

Presentation of minutes and treasurer’s report

A motion was made by Sup. Mattes, seconded by Sup. Stewart and unanimously carried to accept the minutes and treasurer’s report as presented.

Citizen’s input on the agenda - Public Comment

Jack Davis expressed his appreciation to the supervisors for their work on the roads.

Reports of the board, commissions and committees

Susquehanna Co. Planning Commission - A report was not available. 

Choconut Township Friendsville Borough Planning Commission

Jack Davis reported that the February meeting was cancelled as there was not much to talk about.  Jack said that he still thinks that the nuisance ordinance needs to be worked on and suggested that the super-visors talk to the solicitor about dividing it up, if that was what the supervisors wanted to do.  Jack dis-cussed with the supervisors an incident that took place on Meadow Lane involving some pit bull dogs.  The supervisors stated that when there is a problem such as the one with the pit bulls, they need to be contacted in writing to report it.  Jack brought up the subject of the property owned by Dennis Hayes that still contains junk that needs to be removed.  Sup. Stewart will talk to the solicitor about the nuisance ordinance.

Choconut Creek Watershed

Jack Davis discussed with the supervisors a call he received from a woman whose trailer had been flooded out.

Northern Tier Coalition - Sup. Stewart said that there wasn’t any meeting in February.

Susquehanna Co. Council of Governments, C.O.G. Sewage Committee Codes

C.O.G.

The election of officers was held.  Sup. Mattes is on the executive committee. Each township is supposed to receive a two-page letter from the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection regarding the township’s regulations on gas drilling.

C.O.G. Sewage Committee

Sup. Mattes was elected to the position of chairman of the committee.  The sewage committee is keeping a close watch on the work at the senior citizens’ center in Choconut.

C.O.G. Codes - There wasn’t anything to report.

OLD BUSINESS - There wasn’t any old business to be discussed

NEW BUSINESS - There wasn’t any new business to discuss.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - There wasn’t any public participation at this point in the meeting.

APPROVAL OF BILL LIST 2010-02, CURRENT BILLS AND PAYROLL

A motion was made by Sup. Mattes, seconded by Sup.Stewart and unanimously carried by the board to approve the bill list, current bills and payroll.

Public Comment before adoption- no comments were made.

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Sup. Dovin, seconded by Sup. Mattes and unanimously carried by the board to adjourn the meeting.
