The township is a member of Council of Governments (COG) and the Northern Tier Coalition (NTC). The NTC meets the 3rd Thursday of each month. Time 7 PM. Place, rotating. Call Carolyn Doolittle for place.

The Commission is working with the Northern Tier Coalition to development cooperative services.
The aerial picture below of the area north of Stanley Lake shows one of many blue stone mines in Choconut. A DEP permit is required for a such a mine, but some mines operate illegally without one. The permit requires that the site be restored when mining has ended. The permit also requires that information about the mine be posted at an entry road. If you are aware of a mine that is not permitted, please contact DEP or one of the supervisors, to ensure that the area is restored when mining has ended.
